For example, your dermatologist may offer a Dermatology Panel and your primary care physician may offer a Women’s Health or Men’s Health Panel. Choosing a panel is as simple as putting a check mark in a box. All the relevant diseases and genes will then be screened for using Existence’s Nexus technologies.

Panel screening is a significant advancement in the field of genetic testing and analysis because, for the first time, cost-effective screening for both common and rare diseases can be included in a single package and accessed all at once. In the past, widespread screening for many of the rare diseases (often referred to as "orphan diseases" because of their rarity and the unfortunate lack of resources directed toward treating and preventing them) was discouraged because of cost and time. Now, however, we can start to include screening for hundreds of rare diseases within Existence’s panels and begin to identify people who are carriers of or affected by them.
